Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence Day are often confused (Independence Day is in September!), but everyone is certain of one thing, Cinco de Mayo means FUN! Originally a celebration of the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla, today the event celebrates Mexican culture and heritage with parades, parties, mariachi music, folk dancing, and traditional Mexican foods. Highgate at Seven Oaks recently brought the excitement of Cinco de Mayo to Highgate Central Park. There was plenty of fun for everyone, including games and craft making for the kids, music, a jalapeno eating contest (ouch!), and lots of delicious tacos, margaritas, and festive drinks. Cinco de Mayo is just one of the many family-oriented events hosted by Highgate at Seven Oaks throughout the year, and one of the reasons so many people love living in Highgate! #HighgateSevenOaks #NewHomesGatedCommunity #NewHomesBakersfield
